Sunflower Project kicks off June 11 at Veteran's Memorial Park

May 31, 2022

INA, Ill. (May 31, 2022) — The Sunflower Project invites the community to visit Veterans' Memorial Park in Mt. Vernon from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 11. This community collaboration to plant sunflowers will beautify the area, regenerate soil, and increase pollinators. The project partners are hosting special events to give everyone the chance to experience nature, art, and fun educational opportunities.

The Sunflower Project will be planting beautiful sunflowers in two lots at the park. The first is west of Rolland Lewis Building by the west fenced ball court. The second is at the south lot near the tennis courts.

All events are free and open to the public. Family and friends of all ages are welcome to join the celebration. There will be educational activities, free giveaways, and the beauty of sunflowers.

The wonderful sponsors that help make this project possible are º£½ÇÊÓƵ, Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Enjoy Mt. Vernon.
